Severo Sarduy

Severo Sarduy was born in 1937, in Camagüey, Cuba. He moved to Paris in 1960, where he lived as a poetry writer and artistic and literary critic. His dazzling command of complex language earned him the nickname "millionaire of words". 'Gatico-Gatico' is a previously unpublished work and Sarduy's only story for children. Shortly before his death, he submitted this marvelous tale, which he generously agreed to contribute to the En-Cuento collection. He sent the story with the following words: "Thank you; it gave me so much pleasure that you thought of me for this story. I had as much fun creating the voices of the characters while writing it, as I did reading the finished story." Severo Sarduy died in 1993 at the age of 56.
